Product Overview
Well control hose is used in the small-bore hydraulic circuits that command well control equipment, including the control unit for the blowout preventer rams. Unlike Choke & Kill hoses, which carry drilling fluid through a large bore, well control hose carries the hydraulic command that opens and closes the BOP rams, and is built to API 16D requirements.
Construction
- Tube: oil-resistant synthetic rubber
- Reinforcement: four or more layers of high-tensile spiral steel wire (4S/6S)
- Cover: red synthetic rubber resistant to abrasion and weathering, thermally insulating and flame resistant
- Metal armour option: 304/316 stainless steel or carbon steel, to protect against mechanical damage and heat

In plain terms: This small-bore hose carries the command to close or open the BOP rams from the control panel on the rig to the BOP equipment itself at the wellhead. Unlike Choke & Kill hose, which moves fluid at high pressure, this hose carries only the hydraulic control pressure.
